In 1955 Rabén & Sjögren's publishing house started the children's magazine Klumpe Dumpe. In the January issue of volume 3 1957, a big news item was introduced that would continue until the last issue in December 1959. In every magazine there would be a series about Pippi Longstocking. Astrid Lindgren wrote the script and Ingrid Vang Nyman drew. The series became popular and in 1969 a publication of the cartoons in six books began.
