It warms your heart: When night falls and everyone is asleep, Tomte Tummetott comes out of his hiding place. The little imp with the long white beard and red cap protects people and animals. But on this winter night, he sneaks Mikkel, the hungry fox, crosses the yard. Tomte has an idea: He gives the fox the bowl of groats that the children from the yard put outside for Tomte every evening. This way the fox doesn't have to steal the chickens. Eva Eriksson's poetic images wonderfully capture the Christmassy, peaceful mood of the Scandinavian classic with a text by Astrid Lindgren. Translator: Silke von Hacht
